On March 3rd, 2024, Suleiman Hearing and Educational Foundation (SHEF) celebrated World Hearing Day in Kano and Katsina states, Nigeria. The event followed the World Health Organization’s theme for the year, “Changing Mindsets.” This theme focused on raising awareness about hearing care, breaking down stigmas surrounding hearing loss, and promoting the importance of early detection and prevention.
SHEF organized community outreach programs in both states, where participants were educated about the importance of hearing health, with special emphasis on changing societal perceptions about hearing disabilities. The foundation also provided free hearing tests, distributed hearing aids to those in need, and held educational workshops to highlight the benefits of early intervention.

The event fostered discussions on how to better support individuals with hearing disabilities, especially in under-served areas. Through its engagement, SHEF reinforced its commitment to making hearing care accessible for all, regardless of socio-economic background.
This celebration created a lasting impact in the communities, driving the message of inclusion and the importance of hearing care to the forefront.
