World Hearing Day 2026 Activities
Suleiman Hearing and Educational Foundation (SHEF)
In commemoration of World Hearing Day (WHD) 2026, observed globally every 3rd of March and led by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Suleiman Hearing and Educational Foundation (SHEF) has planned a series of impactful activities across different states in Nigeria. These activities aim to promote ear and hearing care awareness, prevention of hearing loss, and early detection among children and the general public.
World Hearing Day 2026 Project Activities:
*Project 1: 5th March,* School Hearing Screening in Kaduna State in Collaboration with Fahimta Speaking & Hearing Help Foundation:
– Awareness session for teachers on early detection and referral pathways.
– Parent engagement session on speech milestones and preventive ear care.
– Free hearing screening for two selected classes (ages 5–7 years).
– Referral of children who fail screening.
Project 2: Public Awareness Campaign – Kano State: 5th March 2025
– Production and dissemination of a podcast in partnership with Bunny Hugs Therapy on hearing screening and prevention.
– Dissemination via social media and community platforms.
Project 3:
Strengthening Primary Ear Care – Kano State and Katsina State – Support supervision of trained PHC staff.
– Community awareness campaigns and free ear examination clinics.- Outreach visits to neighboring schools for awareness talks.
Project 4: School Hearing Screening in Kano State in Collaboration with Elder Care Initiative NGO
– Awareness session for teachers on early detection and referral pathways.
– Parent engagement session on speech milestones and preventive ear care
– Free hearing screening for two selected classes (ages 5–7 years).
– Referral of children who fail screening
Project 5: Sponsored Radio Awareness program on School Hearing Screening in Ilorin ,Kwara State Nigeria.
